And North Carolina brings us back to the news

I couldn't resist checking in on the embarrassing and yet completely unsurprising result of the North Carolina general population vote on banning gay marriage. Hint: the ban passed and it is officially in the North Carolina Constitution that marriage is between one man and one woman, and the protections and civil rights will only be honored if the one man and one woman are married (no domestic partners, etc.).

So here is my Facebook rant:

Hey there, North Carolina - a big Welcome to the Select-Sections-Only Bible Belt Club! I didn't think you had it in you, but it turns out you have bigger and more bigoted Bible cojones than I gave you credit for. I'm so glad that you are so dedicated to being grossed out by gay sex that you gleefully cut off your nose to spite your face. Please don't let anything deter you or make you re-think the idea that only white heterosexual Christian men in the United States deserve to have and be protected by civil rights.

And while I was on the Huffington Post, I came across the following stories that are seriously upsetting and yet, as I mentioned above, completely unsurprising.

Damn this is why I don't like keeping up on the news - so much heartbreak, headache, and frustration. And yet it's so important to stay in tune. Vicious. Just plain vicious.
