Love you, Jeronne.
Here the the article in its entirety:
Cuonzo Martin
made official Wednesday night what most Tennessee basketball fans
suspected and witnessed for themselves this season: Jeronne Maymon was
the Vols' most valuable player.
It was one of 11 awards handed out at the men's
basketball banquet at Calhoun's on the River.
Maymon, a 6-foot-7, 265-pound junior, took in the most awards at the
event, which was closed to the media. Maymon averaged 12.7 points per
game and 8.1 rebounds each outing, ranking among the most consistent
players in the SEC by scoring at least 11 points against every SEC
opponent.
In addition to being the Most Valuable Player, Maymon was given the
Iron Vol Strength Award for work in the weight room, and the Play Hard
Board Award, which recognized the highest composite score of effort
plays, such as taking charges and diving efforts.
Mid-term enrollee Jarnell Stokes was given the Most Courageous Award
for his decision to graduate high school early and begin his collegiate
playing career five days after his 18th birthday. Stokes also was
Newcomer of the Year.
Stokes and Maymon were recognized for their SEC honors. Maymon was
second team All-SEC, and Stokes was on the Freshman All-SEC team.
Point guard Trae Golden won awards for having the most assists and
best free-throw shooting percentage on the team. Golden shot 82.8
percent from the line, finishing the regular season tops in the SEC in
that department.
Senior Cam Tatum was the Defensive Player of the Year, while former
Austin-East High standout Brandon Lopez was the Team-Before-Self Award
recipient.
Freshmen Josh Richardson and Yemi Makanjuola both won awards:
Richardson received the Academic Achiever Award, and Makanjuola won the
Most Improved Award.
