It's funny how some things make sense ... and some things don't: Women's Health Edition

Thoughts on Women’s Health:

Pro-life belief should be coupled with the belief that every person, especially women (as they mostly seem to blame women for pregnancies) and children, should have access to sexual education, health education, and pre-natal and post-natal medical care to prevent situations in which a pregnant woman must choose whether or not to terminate her pregnancy.

Those who are opposed to Planned Parenthood simply because of the abortion services provided by a small number of facilities should be searching for ways to reduce the causes of abortions (unwanted and/or dangerous pregnancies) instead of trying to eliminate an organization that often provides the only safety net available for mothers and families with no health insurance and nowhere to turn. Planned Parenthood provides medical exams, breast exams, education, pre-natal care, and other incredibly important services for individuals and their communities. Here's a novel thought: healthy and educated woman, healthy fetus, less need for abortion services. Another novel thought: educated men and women, fewer unplanned pregnancies, less need for abortion services.

Those who hold the Pro-life belief should be pro-all-human-life. Meaning that these individuals should also and equally:
  • Oppose the death penalty for all crimes;
  • Condemn any and all acts of violence, including, but not limited to, war;
  • Medical trials of all types, including, but not to limited to, research into genetic disorders, cancer treatments, dementia and Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc.;
  • Environmental issues that have effects on the human population, including but not limited to, pesticides, global warming, mining, drilling, chemical and manufacturing plants, etc.;
  • Be concerned about poverty and starvation, particularly as it relates to children who experience the greatest disadvantages when placed in such situations;
  • Be concerned about illegal drug use, trafficking, and development;
  • Be the greatest proponents of free/affordable medical care for expecting and new mothers and their offspring;
  • Be the greatest proponents of programs that assist young, single, career, etc. mothers including but not limited to after school care, school holiday care, flexible days the parent(s) can use if a child is sick, etc.
  • Be the greatest proponents of foster care and adoption programs;
  • Be the greatest proponents of foster care and adoptions by same-sex couples and single-parent households;
  • Be the greatest proponents of education, especially sex education;
  • Be the greatest proponents of free/affordable contraceptives, birth control, etc.;
  • Be the greatest proponents of programs that help and encourage mothers to continue their education and careers during and post-birth.

Why do men have more say over women’s bodies than women do?
